           The whole country dawn-to-dusk hartal, called by 18-parys alliance led by BNP, observed amid scattered incidents of violence, vehicle damage and arrests in the capital of the country.BNP has said the strike in protest missing of BNP leader M Elias Ali, in the wake of escalating political tensions.Partners of the BNP-led 18-party alliance, including Kalyan Party,  NPP, Liberal Democratic Party, Jamaat, BJP, IOJ, Khelafat Majlish, LDP, JAGPA,  NAP,  Muslim League, Islamic Party, Democratic League and Jamiat-e-Olama-e-Islam -- also support to the shutdown.In the hartal, a private car driver was killed in Rajfulbaria bus stand area Sunday morning as hartal-supporter picketers threw brick on his head.

Some 7000 law enforcers, including elite forces, had been deployed to avert the untoward situation during the hartal in the city.

 Additional Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Maudur Rahman said total  10 mobile vigilance teams were in operate during hartal hours to maintain law-and-order situation in the city, After the Sunday’s hartal, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said "in a press conference“Awami League cadre bahini attacked our huge leaders and activists”.
Although he told the journalists that they avoided tougher movements like hartal for long time.The senior leader of the party also said that at least 726 leaders and activists were arrested during the hartal time in the day across the whole country.Indicating Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said, “She is not saying in the language of democracy.”
 Besides, a lot of 666 leaders and activists were injured in the attack of “Awami League cadres”.
BNP Organizing Secretary of Sylhet Division and former MP Mr. Elias Ali went missing along with his driver On April 17.
Later, police recovered Elias’s abandoned private car and the mobile phone of his driver in front of Mohakhali South Point School and College.
